THE POSITION

If so, the Office of Administration, Enterprise Technology Services Office (ETSO) IED Technology Services Office may have the position for you! We are seeking a diligent and reliable Computer Operator 2 to play a vital role in working with high-speed printers producing output for the citizens of Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Computer Operator 2, it is essential to maintain a detailed working knowledge of all aspects of operating mainframe computer printers and print systems, as you will be monitoring and controlling the operation of a computer system using documented instructions and routines. Work involves preparing the system for operation and performing operations activities according to schedules and program instructions. The Print Center processes input and output for multiple mission critical applications such as Driver Licensing, Motor Vehicle Registration, Police Interface, Road and Bridge Management, Project/Contract Management, Accident Records, and other administrative systems. You will be responsible for selecting, printing, and monitoring all scheduled print jobs, and responding to system messages including z/OS, JES2 and RICOH Process Director (RPD) messages. The ability to maximize production printing while minimizing system outages through operator intervention is of the utmost importance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Sunday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Computer Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in operating computer and an associate degree with major course work in data processing; or
  • Two years of experience in operating computers; and graduation from high school; or equivalent certification or formal training. Formal training in electronic data processing may be substituted for experience at the rate of 25 hours for one month, to a maximum of 12 months.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
