Job Summary

The Civil Solution SE will join Trimble's Digital Delivery Services team in ensuring sales productivity and deal flow by securing the "technical close" in complex Engineering and Construction Software and Services opportunities for key projects and customers.

The SE is the customer-facing technical expert who collaborates with sales, client services, professional services, product development, and support resources to ensure proposed opportunities include technical solutions that accurately address customer needs, and are appropriately supported by key customer technical decision-makers. As important is making sure there is/are defined workflow(s) or process(es) that works with the technology the customer will be implementing.

Responsibilities:

  • Become an expert technical advisor on Civil Engineering Software, Hardware and Services for existing and new customers.

  • Provide technical expertise for software opportunities assigned to the sales team and partner team.

  • Priority will be driven both by sales team opportunities and our partners opportunities. Priority software is the Unity Suite.

  • Upskill and support partners with software workflows and technology, Trimble's goal is to scale through partners with owner opportunities as a priority.

  • Conduct technical assessments of customer requirements, analyze, and design an appropriate hardware, software and services solution.

  • Lead the development and generation of the technical portion of formal sales and light services proposals.

  • Orchestrate responsive, comprehensive and compelling software workflow solutions that clearly address customer business needs to create highly satisfied customers.

  • Secure commitments needed from customer technical staff to ensure an opportunity's "technical close."

  • Develop and deliver product related technical presentations, demonstrations and solution recommendations.

  • Represent Trimble Engineering and Construction to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.

  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs, RFPs, and technical questionnaires.

  • Manage light service engagements to ensure conformance to technical project requirements and customer expectations, with the goal to do less services and via partner upskilling and engagements (train the partner on the project).

  • Provide thought leadership as it pertains to the technical aspects of potential customer solutions.

  • Convey customer requirements to Sales and Partners and monitor scope changes which could impact customer opportunities in the sales pipeline.

  • Travel throughout North American territory as necessary and provide onsite consulting where needed on projects.

Characteristics / Skills

  • A strong desire to interact with people and technology.

  • Must have a strong customer service orientation, a strong sense of initiative, a positive attitude, and a collaborative working style.

  • Real world project and project data experience is required to have this role.

  • Use of construction technology and data both office (Autodesk, Bentley, ESRI) and field (survey, construction, lidar/imagery, drones) is required.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills with ability to assess issues, develop and implement solutions.

  • Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.

  • Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports.

  • Organized and analytical, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.

  • Proven track record of creating and driving processes and the use of structured methodologies, while maintaining creativity.

  • Ability to travel up to 50%, with the possibility of International travel.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, civil engineering preferred.

  • Demonstrable proficiency with Trimble Business Center, Autodesk Civil 3d and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer software applications.

  • Proven experience in solutions/process development, technical consulting or pre-sales engineering, including assessing complex customer requirements and providing solution designs.

  • Self-motivated with experience in technical software services or implementation and knowledge of technology.

  • Proven track record of establishing and solidifying strategic relationships with customers and partners on a technical level.

  • Industry knowledge of Infrastructure Design and Construction and BIM tools

  • Experience or knowledge of additional Civil Engineering Infrastructure Software or Trimble products is desired.

Salary 125k-140k + variable
