Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and results-oriented Lead Process Design Engineer to join our Eastman corporate engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the process design scope for various large capital projects during Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detail Design phases. You will be responsible for the process deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, HMBs, and equipment specifications as well as the process safety design activities. You will interface with Eastman technical and operations organizations in addition to external engineering service providers. Your expertise in process design combined with your experience in the chemical industry will be crucial in leading a project team of engineers in the process discipline. To oversee the work of external engineering service providers, travel up to 50-75% may be required.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement project specific process design execution plans to ensure efficient and effective project execution

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, operations, and procurement

* Lead and manage execution of the process design scope of work at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detail Design)

* Participate in process safety design activities including PHAs, LOPAs, change management, and plant pre-startup safety planning

* Forecast, monitor, and report actual progress for process discipline activities, including management of labor hours and completion of deliverables

* Develop and review process design improvements in accordance with the project schedule and freeze dates

* Provide input on deliverables such as plot layouts and 3D model reviews from other engineering disciplines

* Ensure compliance of engineering deliverables with chemical industry standards, codes, and regulations

* Conduct reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements

Qualifications

* Minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering

* Minimum 10 years of experience in chemical process design on capital projects

* Minimum 5 years of experience as lead process design engineer on capital projects

* Advanced degree in chemical engineering

* Professional Engineer (PE) license

* Ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions

* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

* Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to chemical process design
