Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Unit Manager in our Life and Retirement Contact Center!

About the role

In this role, you will lead, supervise and develop a unit of employees to meet our Life and Retirement Contact Center performance objectives, including quality standards, average handle times, and availability standards.

What you will do



  • Provide employees with coaching, feedback and developmental opportunities to build an effective team, and achieve customer and operational goals.
  • Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance.
  • Oversee training and development of employees and make effective staffing decisions.
  • Ensure employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
  • Challenge and encourage employees; motivate them and celebrate their successes.
  • Accountable for handling daily work to meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Responsible for appropriate record keeping, required reports, and ensuring related administrative functions are correct and maintained according to company policies.
  • Accountable for resolution of customer and/or partner questions and complaints.
  • Define and communicate short-term goals and objectives for team to achieve understanding and acceptance.
  • Continuously build subject matter expertise by being a student of the business.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Support initiatives and/or projects as requested including process improvement or procedural changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Salary Range: $64,200 - $106,900 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who You Are



  • High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
  • 1-3 Years of related work required.
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus.
  • Strong training, mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and leadership skills.
  • Adept multitasking and prioritization skills in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proven change management skills.
  • Project and deadline management skills.
  • Continuous learning and improvement mentality a plus.
  • MS Office Suite proficiency.
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or Amazon Connect a plus.
  • Some minimal travel required.


Travel:

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
