Overview

SSOE is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Section Manager for our Solar/Battery Division. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in leading Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Process staff and projects, and helping to shape the future for the world's leading companies.



Responsibilities

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all-encompassing:

    Coaches, directs, coordinates, facilitates, and supervises section personnel. This includes all employment and employee relations activities.
  • Ensures the technical competency and quality of work performed by staff. This may include the stamping/sealing of drawings/documents done as the professional in "responsible charge" as defined by the applicable statue of jurisdiction.
  • Supports customer maintenance and business development activities and assists project managers in preparing proposals.
  • Verifies that the Discipline Project Leads have defined the Quality, Budget, and Schedule (QBS) requirements for each project and monitor progress to ensure the QBS key measures are met.
  • Reviews, modifies and approves discipline work plan for each project.
  • Reviews and approves project change orders before submitting them to the Project Discipline Lead.
  • Prepares and monitors project work schedules and projected workload schedules for the department.
  • Provides staffing and resources to meet project requirements.
  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses of section personnel to identify and prioritize training needs. Develops and implements section training programs with the assistance of the Training and Development Department.
  • Responsible for section employee relations activities with the assistance of the Human Resources Department.
  • This is a "working manager" role, which may also require having technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering assignments with overall responsibility for budget adherence schedule adherence, quality control, and inter-discipline coordination. This may include the stamping/sealing of one's drawings/documents as well as meeting regularly with the client to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
  • May plan, organize, supervise, and review the work of a team of engineers and designers working on the same assigned project.
  • Maintains continuing professional education as detailed in registered states' voluntary or mandatory requirements.
  • Travel required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or ten (10) years of direct industrial facilities structural design experience.
  • Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
