We are seeking dedicated and passionate professionals to support the National Guard (NG) Substance Abuse Program (SAP), Suicide Prevention Program (SPP), and Risk Reduction Support Services across various locations.


Overview:

The Suicide Prevention Coordinator (State Level) will play a vital role in implementing and managing Suicide Prevention (SP), Substance Abuse Prevention (SAP), and Risk Reduction programs. Reporting directly to the Risk Reduction Coordinator (RRC), the role involves delivering training, managing referred Soldier cases, and ensuring the overall success of these critical programs. The coordinator will work closely with Unit Commanders, community-based providers, and various stakeholders to meet program goals and objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination & Training:

    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with State Points of Contact (POCs) and other stakeholders.
    • Implement program goals, objectives, and standard operating procedures for SAP, SPP, and Risk Reduction programs.
    • Coordinate and conduct Substance Abuse Prevention (SAP) training for ARNG units, ensuring compliance with AR 600-85 and AR 350-53.
    • Coordinate and conduct Suicide Prevention (SP) and Bystander Training for ARNG leaders and units, meeting the requirements of AR 600-63, DA-PAM 600-24, and ALARACT 057-2014.
    • Coordinate, facilitate, and ensure the quality of the Unit Risk Inventory (URI) and Reintegration Unit Risk Inventory (RURI).


  • Case Management & Incident Reporting:

    • Enter all suicides, ideations, and attempts into the Critical Incident Management System (CIMS) within 48 hours of receiving a report and update the record as new information arises.
    • Manage Substance Abuse referred Soldier cases, coordinating with Unit Commanders to schedule assessments, track progress, and coordinate follow-on treatment as needed. Maintain communication with Soldiers, conduct weekly check-ins, retrieve paperwork, and document all actions in the internal database.
    • Assist Unit Commanders in reporting and implementing outcomes from the Risk Mitigation Plan (RMP).


  • Collaboration & Reporting:

    • Serve as a member of the Commander's Readiness and Resiliency Council (CR2C) and the Adjutant General's Alcohol and Drug Intervention Council (ADIC).
    • Establish and maintain relationships with community-based providers to support Soldiers.
    • Keep the State resource catalog current and accessible.
    • Provide required weekly/monthly reports to the Risk Reduction Coordinator (RRC) and assist in preparing Monthly Status Reports.
    • Attend Substance Abuse Interim Progress Reviews as required and assist the SPC with training and coordination efforts as needed.




Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Social Science or related field.
  • Experience: 3-9 years of practical experience in Substance Abuse Prevention, Suicide Prevention, or Resilience.


Required Qualifications:

  • Strong and professional instruction and briefing skills, with the ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility with various audiences.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, as required by training schedules for state units.
