Overview
Responsible for receiving, identifying, and processing accounting, insurance remittance and patient medical payments for daily bank deposits. Also responsible for preparing documents for posting those payments to the appropriate account. Interacts with clinical locations to validate and track documentation for their daily deposits. Responsible for ordering, managing and validating change funds for various hospital departments. Responsible for working with armored transportation services to manage and replenish daily deposits and change funds from the bank. Additionally responsible for reconciliation of daily receivables and adhering to audit control batch standards. This position may also include processing and mailing refund checks, and accessing outside payer sites to retrieve explanation of benefits. Qualifications Certifications: , Education: , Work Experience: Customer service Responsibilities Performs a variety of clerical duties involved in the processing of medical payments. Including insurance remittance and patient payments, credit card payments, miscellaneous payments, and preparing bank deposits. Open, identify, and interpret incoming mail for appropriate identification and rerouting throughout the Carle organization. Utilize Epic to identify and prepare payments and adjustments related to insurance and or patient balances. Interpret internal payment transfer processes and prepares remittance advice to ensure payments are posted to the correct entity. Processes and balances credit card payments for patient's using external vendor's web sites. Prepare documents for scanning and file maintenance functions. Validates and mails weekly refund checks. Accesses third party payers' websites to retrieve remittance advice for payment posting. Manages petty cash and change fund activity according to internal policy. Identify and process appropriate letters to send to patients and insurance companies related to payment discrepancies. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $15per hour - $24.32per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
