Category Insights Analyst

We are looking for a Category Insights Analyst to provide technical and analytical support to the Category Insights department and cross-functional partners such as Sales, Supply Chain, Marketing, Product Management and other key business partners. This role is an analytical resource to coordinate the development, consolidation, and tracking and reporting of point of sales, units, GMROI, and other SKU performance metrics to capture trends and collect, analyze and report related information to support in increasing sales and SKU productivity. This role is also to support assortment analysis on an on-going basis to provide recommendations for SKU optimization and rationalization. A little about you




  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or Finance
  • 1-3 years of Retail/Consumer products industry experience
  • Requires experience working with retail POS data in a CPG environment
  • Must possess a strong sense of responsibility, proven ability to achieve results and adhere to firm deadlines, analytical and organization skills, strong business judgement, accuracy, excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • The position will require initiative on the part of the person to work independently to deliver insights on the business.
  • Demonstrated skills working on small projects and basic analytic assignments required.
  • Advanced user of Excel, Tableau experience preferred and JDA analytics/R-Script/Python experience recommended
  • Must be self-motivated, possess excellent communication and organization skills, project a professional image, and interact effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • 10% travel

SKU & Category Analysis



  • Assist management in the development and evaluation of rolling POS & category reporting, which includes offering insight into SKU optimization, rationalization and assortment recommendations.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement data analysis models to most effectively measure from various time periods as needed. Integrate POS and causal data to provide insights and recommendations to sales, product management & marketing.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement category analysis methods to most effectively draw insights that lead to sales and category growth opportunities.
  • Partner with marketing and supply chain to support new product innovation, demand planning efforts, and the constant optimization of our existing product portfolio and related categories.
  • Analyze sales data, customer behavior, and competitor activities to identify patterns and forecast future trends, ultimately helping retailers optimize operations and strategies.


Sales Analysis



  • The position will require timely communication and in depth analytical support focused on business solutions. The person is expected to develop a good working knowledge of reporting systems and demonstrate the ability to capture information and incorporate into spreadsheets and Power Point presentations to provide regular updates to sales and marketing.
  • Perform analytics & insights that assist in the category and GTM projects including business reviews, PLR's & category management.
  • Lift key findings from technical analytics, connecting functional area performance and creating possible scenarios for the future; owns tracking and measuring of key business indicators.
  • Develop and implement automated systems for reporting of data.
