ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
DIVISION OF RESPIRATORY THERAPY
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

West Virginia University located in Morgantown, WV, is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track (9-month) Assistant Professor for the Department of Human Performance, Division of Respiratory Therapy to contribute to a well-established program with a tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of WVU, and the program housed within the School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in the didactic, laboratory, and clinical arenas as required. Provide daily management of student's coursework, refinement of laboratory skills, conduct simulation exercises, train students with AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines to prepare students in the latest patient management strategies. This position requires diligence in assisting the Program Director, Clinical Director, and Vice Dean of Health Professions in the School of Medicine to promote optimal student outcomes through tutoring, promoting retention strategies, recruitment event participation, and additional positive outcome related strategies. This position will also require direct student advisement which requires training and familiarity of the process for student scheduling and advising. Active engagement in departmental, university, and professional service activities is also expected.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:



  • Hold a master's degree in the field of study of Respiratory Therapy, Education, Health Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • Must have a current valid Respiratory Therapy license for the State of West Virginia or be eligible for a West Virginia Respiratory Therapy licensure.
  • Must hold current valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program OR as a clinical instructor/ preceptor for students of such programs.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.


All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.
