Moog Defense Groupis the premier motion and flow control solutions provider for markets including missiles, turreted weapons systems, military ground vehicles, military radar, Naval vessels, and human-rated space vehicles. Emerging areas of focus include metal additive manufacturing, blockchain for supply chain, and sensor integration.

Our team in Orville, is looking for a 2nd Shift Process Supervisor to join them. You will report to the Process Manager and will have a Monday - Thursday, 3:00pm - 1:00am work schedule.

Process Supervisor has the daily responsibility for one or more departments typically in the operations area, such as: Machine Shop, Processing, or Assembly & Test Departments.

The Process Supervisor's tasks include: identification, implementation and measurement of short term department objectives which comply with the overall company strategic plan; motivation and leadership of team members and coordination of support groups to accomplish area objectives. Additionally, the Process Supervisor is directly responsible for the performance of the department.

The Process Supervisor works with Department Manager to identify areas for lean and other improvement activities to achieve high impact results including increased profitability, productivity and capacity, and reduced internal costs, lead times and inventory.

To be considered for Process Supervisor, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • An Associate Degree (AS) in a related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • Three or more years directly related experience in a production environment or eight to twelve years of broad and diversified machine shop, special process or A&T experience

  • Working knowledge of functional manufacturing responsibilities and supporting departments

  • Possess recognizable and demonstrate leadership skills, exercise good judgment, be well organized, with excellent communication skills

  • Ability to define and prioritize specific goals and objectives such as reduce scrap and maintain scheduled lead times

  • Ability to effectively build and maintain team work (both within the department and with supporting departments, suppliers and customers)

  • Must have excellent supervisory skills

  • Prior machining experience is preferred

  • Ability to use hand gages and CMM is preferred

As a Process Supervisor, you will:

  • Assure maximum utilization and efficiency of personnel and equipment to provide optimum productivity at the least possible cost to meet manufacturing schedules and delivery commitments

  • Evaluate personnel within the department for the purposes of (a) probationary employee reports, (b) job posting and (c) expectation conversations. Assist department personnel in goal and expectation setting

  • Maintain competent and effective work group by providing technical assistance and instructions, training, developing, motivating, and counseling subordinates. Ensure good housekeeping (5S) and safe working conditions within the section(s) in order to provide pleasant working environment, limit on the job injuries, and reduce lost time. Inspect the area daily for unsafe working conditions, signs of equipment breakdown, and general untidiness

  • Ensure accurate production records within the department by maintaining employee time reports, and recording accurate attendance and overtime equalization reports. Provide good company/employee relations within section(s) by administering all personnel policies fairly and consistently

  • Handle all employee relations issues before they become major challenges

  • Assist in optimizing "production standard" performance within his/her section(s) by investigating reasons for variances from standards and initiating appropriate changes in production activities or suggesting changes in established standards in order to minimize variance and/ or reduce costs

  • Operate/setup machines as required to meet production schedules

  • Perform inspections/first piece inspections

Orrville, OH $70,000.00-$95,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
