Summary:

The Welder is responsible for welding metal components using a gas-shielded welder while ensuring structural integrity and compliance with quality standards. This position requires working as an active and contributing team member by supporting and performing all assigned tasks within a cell group. The role may require frequent overtime, including extended daily shifts and weekend work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  1. Perform welding that fuses similar or different metals, ensuring high structural strength while minimizing distortion using proper MIG welding techniques.



  2. Read and interpret blueprints to verify job specifications, ensuring the correct components are welded as per design.



  3. Conduct a thorough inspection of the first completed piece, document findings on the job card, and record hourly quality checks.



  4. Report production amounts to the supervisor at the end of each shift.



  5. Properly tag containers to identify products and maintain accurate records.



  6. Utilize hand tools, fixtures, jigs, and clamps to complete welding tasks efficiently.



  7. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all company safety guidelines and industry best practices.



  8. Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.



  9. Troubleshoot welding equipment and perform basic maintenance as needed.



  10. Other duties as assigned.





Minimum Requirements:




  • Must achieve minimum performance goals within the designated time frame or will be disqualified from the position.



  • Must obtain welder certification within the first 60 days of employment.



  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as required.





Education and Experience:




  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.



  • Completion of a welding certification program or vocational training preferred.



  • Minimum of 1 year of welding experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.



  • Experience in MIG and/or TIG welding techniques preferred.



  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints and welding symbols is a plus.





Physical Requirements:




  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly.



  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive welding tasks.



  • Requires manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and physical stamina.



  • Exposure to heat, sparks, and welding fumes; must wear appropriate protective equipment.



  • Ability to work in a noisy and industrial environment while adhering to safety regulations.
