Our Hillsboro location is the North America Automotive Division Headquarters which manufactures and distributes automotive lighting components worldwide. Position Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Engineering Director to lead the OSRAM Sylvania Hillsboro engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, design, and production of innovative lighting solutions for the automotive industry. As the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for the development and support of high-quality products that meet industry standards and customer expectations. Your leadership will be crucial in driving the strategic direction of our engineering efforts while ensuring optimal performance and continuous innovation. Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of engineers
- Develop and implement engineering strategies
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Product Development & Innovation:
- Oversee the end-to-end development from conceptualization to production.
- Ensure the application of best engineering practices in the design and development process
- Project Management, Budget & Resource Management:
- Ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Define project scope, allocate resources, and track progress
- Prepare and present regular project updates and engineering reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with product management, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment on product requirements and specifications.
- Engage with suppliers, OEMs and other key stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of products.
- Build and develop global synergies to optimize value to the organization
- Continuous Improvement:
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize engineering processes, reduce time-to-market, and enhance product quality.
- Stay current with industry developments and integrate relevant advancements into the company's product roadmap.
Who we are looking for
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the automotive lighting industry or a related field.
- Proven experience managing teams and cross-functional projects.
- Experience with automotive industry standards and regulatory requirements,
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to manage a diverse, multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Excellent project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage large, complex engineering projects.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive lighting technologies, systems, and design principles.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
