POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION: Lean Six Sigma Coordinator & MES Site Champion

Job Purpose:

To investigate, analyze and recommend solutions to drive process improvements, quality improvements and cost improvements using Lean/Six Sigma DMAIC principles. Support the organization and to enable it to meet or exceed annual cost savings and performance goals established by the company.

Nature of Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading Lean Mfg. Kaizen events, improving 5S processes and results, training employees and teams as needed, and ensuring timelines and improvement goals are defined and met. Incumbent should be able to analyze data and make recommendations to the management team for Six Sigma projects per the DMAIC methodology. Incumbent would be expected to cross train with the technical engineers and be able to understand critical to quality as well as customer requirements.Develop list of potential projects. Put together teams necessary to support each project. Manage and publish results associated with each project. Complete all project documentation and ensure that all vested departments are informed, trained, and participate in projects and events at an appropriate level. Analyze and manage incoming raw material and production data to monitor for trends and shifts that could lead to new projects. Maintain checks on projects to ensure that the savings or improvements were actually realized. Assist with maintenance of standard operating procedures and other controlled documents that require updating as the result of projects and events.

This dual role position also includes activities required to work collaboratively with all Sanmina MHT organizations towards evaluating and implementing all 42Q Modules and tools that will add palpable benefits to the MHT facility. This includes but is not limited to the following:



  • Plant level MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Champion
  • Evaluation, configuration, implementation and maintenanceof the site's MES system, which defines manufacturing of our products, including process flow, traceability, manufacturing instructions, etc.
  • Working with Corporate 42Q resources and support staffs to integrate and automate 42Q functionality with existing processes and tools in MHT to mistake proof our processes and data flows. This is a high level position which will improve productivity throughout the site and enable the achievement of our MHT site KPIs.
  • The candidate / incumbent will utilize his or her lean six Sigma DMAIC methodologies to evaluate real problems and opportunities in MHT and determine how best to deploy 42Q MES capabilities to overcome these problems and turn them into competitive advantages.
  • Day to Day supportand training of operations personnel
  • Data analytics: review of manufacturing data including evaluating critical parameters for both technical and non-technical processes
  • Logical and Analytical Collaboration: Provide analytical support for projects and proposals to brainstorm the requirements and the 'How' to implement solutions
  • Support continuous improvement actions for surface mount technology and electro-mechanical systems
  • Work with site and corporate IT resources to support and enhance various softwareapplications and databases that support manufacturing
  • Liaisonbetween customers and local IT to provide IP and customer equipment support
  • Lead process automation activities and projects
  • Create documentation for software usage, maintenance, and other requirements


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or related degreewith the following experience considered: Six Sigma certification, CQE, CSSBB and/or appropriate work experience. Candidates working toward these degrees and certifications will also be considered.



  • 20 plus years general experience in Industry
  • Minimum 5years experience or greater as a change agent for continuous improvement.
  • Posses an understanding of LEAN philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems, and professional ethics
  • Able to define and/or interpret problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
  • Interpret an extensive variety of industry standards, technical instructions, drawings, and specifications
  • Have a thorough understanding of problem-solving and lean improvement tools and techniques. This includes knowledge of management and planning tools, quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to lean improvements.
  • Ability to learn and apply the DMAIC process for problem solving.
  • Ability to acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods to facilitate process analysis and improvements
  • Basic statistical analysis to include: trending, averages, standard deviation and run charts.
  • Ability to train project teams in principles of Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Ability to set project timelines and lay out plan of actions with timelines.
  • Ability to communicate results and issues through all levels of the organization
  • Problem solving using root cause methodologies
  • Programming experience (Python, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, SQL or similar) in a manufacturing environment a plus, but not required
  • Applying statistics and software in data analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Flexibility for handling a wide range of activities
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines
  • Advanced usage of Microsoft Office products is required
  • Must be able to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a timely and professional manner is a necessity
  • This is an ITAR facility and applicant must be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident.


JOB DESCRIPTION*

Duties of Position:

Effectively organize Lean and Six Sigma teams and projects. Lead operation excellence team initiatives through functional partnerships and priority alignment.



  • Promote Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving across the organization through:
  • Conducting Lean and Six Sigma training
  • Lean tools deployment-
  • Facilitating and/or leading Kaizen events
  • Establish and/or Enhance Continuous Improvement culture
  • Drive and coordinate cross-functional efforts to focus on core process performance improvement and strategic objectives achievement through:
  • KPIs alignment to objectives
  • Production efficiency improvement
  • Identifying saving opportunities through VSM and Gamba walks- Reduction of the 7 wastes of Mfg and NVA costs
  • Coaching individuals to help them improve their capability
  • Lean and Six Sigma Training (BB, GB & WB Etc.);
  • Regularly organizing LSS management meeting and update factory reports.
  • Implementing corrective and preventive measures when appropriate.


Promote training on factory environment and safety; identify the environmental factors and safety risks of the department; master energy conservation and other environmental protection awareness.

Qualifications Required:



  • Certified Black Belt
  • Experienced with the Statistical tools and Minitab
  • Effective communication and organization skills
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Work Experience: At least 5 years Lean and Six Sigma experience
  • Language Ability: Written and Spoken English Fluent. Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work. Works closely with development engineers to create design prototypes and models. Troubleshoots prototype and model failures.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Perform a multitude of activities that match with engineering responsibilities.



  • Approving Engineering Change Orders, System Re-configurations,
  • Performing Lean 5S evaluation and line set up changes and ensuring team members are properly trained and have the necessary tools to perform their functions. Provide training on a wide variety of complex electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations on complete integrated systems.
  • Work closely with highly skilled assembly and test technicians, in complete system builds by following methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units.
  • Work closely with the L3 Supervisor, and the Test and Manufacturing Engineering teams to make setups and adjustments in holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
  • Oversee the entire assembly and test processes as well as real time failure analysis to evaluate the electrical and mechanical characteristics of systems and/or integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine the cause of failure as well as appropriate actions and proper escalations for immediate correction.


REQUIREMENTS:



  • Minimum 6 years related experience and Associates in Engineering preferred.
