Summary

Spire is seeking a Supervisor, Field Operations to work in Kansas City / Lee's Summit, MO. This position will be responsible for assisting the Administrators of Field Operations in overseeing and coordinating various field operations work including construction, maintenance, pipeline, service, operational training when required, and assisting the management administration of company policy, procedures, and coordinating the daily operation of the Region.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate shared equipment and resources.
  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of plans to attain departmental goals.
  • Review jobs, including checking blueprints, visiting work sites, prioritizing jobs, and ensuring that the necessary material and equipment are available to complete the job.
  • Meet contractors and municipalities, including attending meetings or job sites, going over utility conflicts/changes in contractor plans, and scheduling start dates.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments or other operations supervisors to ensure that work is completed in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Assist the Service Administrator in the preparation and implementation of the department's business plan for the current and upcoming fiscal years.
  • Prepare and coordinate all safety activities for the region.
  • Review and complete various types of paperwork, such as absence reports, safety reports, service tickets, weekly manpower reports, etc.
  • Monitor crew performance to ensure job performance levels are in line with business unit objectives.
  • Schedule all training (OQ, Fire, Hearing, Halt, Respirator, etc.) for employees.
  • Observe and evaluate new employees.
  • Ensure employee timesheets, expense reports, and other routine submissions are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Oversee the implementation of plans to ensure the health and safety of all employees in the region.
  • Visit crews and technicians to check on the progress of jobs and that all safety standards are being followed.
  • Assist in the management of employee issues, including assisting in the grievance procedure, filling temporary and permanent job vacancies, and disciplining employees.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct management of up to 30 contract employees.
  • Support and develop their team in order to improve their level of operational and customer service skills to ensure the safe operation of the distribution system and to continually improve the level of customer service that we provide.
  • Responsible for continually motivating the members of the team to improve the level of safety awareness to achieve success with all the business unit and corporate safety goals and initiatives.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • High school diploma/GED, required.
  • 2 years of field experience in the performance of physical duties, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the policies, procedures, standards and OQ requirements.
  • Knowledge of human resources, collective bargaining agreement and personnel procedures.
  • Valid Missouri Class E License required or the issuing state's equivalent and the ability to drive safely and accident free.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • 2 to 3 years of prior job-related experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Service and Maintenance department work processes and procedures.

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • A mix of normal office conditions, outdoors exposed to all weather conditions, in construction areas with uneven surfaces and in areas exposed to loud audible noises .
