This position is for a Transmission SCADA Engineer to support the field with RTU/SCADA configurations across the Midwest. Additional areas of focus for this role will be:
Remote Engineering Access Modeling and Support RTU-specific compliance activities (Baseline Updates, Tripwire Testing, etc.) Communication and data-sharing standards and support with Interties Support non-protection based devices such as Electronic Temperature Monitors (ETMs), LTC/VR Controllers, DGAs, and Carrier.
Responsibilities
Maintain Crossbow/SADM for Midwest Relay and RTU assets, Support non-protection based devices such as ETMs, Carrier, and LTC/Regulator controllers, Interface with Telecomm is needed to adapt to changing communication architecture, Conducts engineering and related studies; expected to engage in frequent working group phone calls and face-to-face meetings to coordinate and implement changes as a result of fleet and recognize industry best practices, Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance, Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities, Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills, Maintains accurate records and files, Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Basic Qualifications
Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program by June 2025. A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree. (Spring 2025 graduates will be considered for this position)
Desired Qualifications
Previous experience as a Duke Energy Intern or Co-Op. Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations. Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Good written and oral communication skills. Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam. Understanding of basic principles of project management. Experience in the utility industry
Working Conditions
Travel may be needed for face-to-face interactions with engineering and relay/SCADA field personnel. Expectation to be hands on in lab environment with communication based devices for template development, testing, and debugging. Both full-time onsite and Hybrid mobility classifications are acceptable for this role. Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility
