Overview

The MUSIC E&S Brokerage Supervisor will support business growth and profitability goals within authority guidelines in a fast-paced environment with a focus on exceptional service to agency partners. Supervise a team of Renewal Underwriters who handle renewal business and work cohesively with the new business underwriters. Performs Operations Analyst duties. Designs, implements, and monitors internal process improvements geared towards improving customer service, efficiencies, team through-put and overall quality of output. Interact daily with underwriting and operations teams and team management business partners. Monitor and prepare monthly scorecard representing operational performance for management review. Directs all project and task responsibilities of the unit through direct and matrix reporting relationships.


Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coordinates, and monitors activities and results of Brokerage renewal underwriting team that includes multiple territories to obtain and ensure accurate, quality work while at the same time maintaining high production standards.
  • Schedules, priorities and distributes workflow of unit to ensure work is done in a timely fashion and all deadlines are met.
  • Processes renewals for assigned agents.
  • Provides guidance to agents and policyholders and provides technical guidance and expertise to underwriters. Acts as a liaison with other supervisors, branches and corporate departments with whom their unit interacts.
  • Recommends procedural changes and plans, organizes and implements these changes. Keeps current on all changes effecting unit's work production and on changes within the insurance industry.
  • Arbitrate problems between agents, insureds, or other departments.
  • Develops and utilizes management reports to assist in monitoring team and individual underwriter results.
  • Oversees training and development of staff.
  • Evaluates and gives guidance to staff on an on-going basis as to their abilities and duties and makes personnel recommendations to ensure proper and optimum use of personnel.
  • Oversees daily workload the underwriting team to effectively manage workload.
  • Supervise daily activities of underwriters. Supervise and train new underwriters and continuously improve the existing team acumen. Evaluate the performance of your assigned underwriters, delivering feedback, and addressing any opportunities for improvement and develop and executes employee development plans and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Develop and maintain excellent mentorship with underwriters through regular discussions and correspondence.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Broad underwriting technical background.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Proficient with Word, excel & Outlook.

Education and Experience

  • College degree preferred.
  • 7+ years Underwriting experience required
  • 3-4 years experience in rating, inspections, and claims is also preferred

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.


Pay Range

USD $92,000.00 - USD $127,000.00 /Yr.
