Job Summary: Guide students in yoga through a variety of postures (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation, and general mindfulness in a safe and accessible way. Lead all-levels group classes for beginning to advanced students and tailor classes for one on one or group private lessons.

Applicants must be 18 years of age.

Hourly:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $18.68 - $43.01 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Design course and lesson plans applying your knowledge of anatomy and physiology to teaching movement, yoga postures ('asana'), breathing techniques and breath control exercises ('pranayama')
  • Teach preparatory movements, including joint mobilizing and muscle warming techniques
  • Teach a wide range of asanas from simple to complex
  • Modify asanas for individual conditions such as pregnancy or arthritis
  • Teach efficient breathing habits from basic to complex
  • Recognize the needs of beginners, experienced students and mixed ability groups, use effective pacing that is appropriate for students ability level
  • Assess students' progress and achievements
  • Clarify customer's expectations and goals at the beginning of each lesson.
  • Participate in yoga clinics to keep current with the most modern and efficient teaching methods and techniques.
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest standards in professional appearance and grooming, parking policy, operational procedures, phone etiquette and use of company equipment
  • Ensure the studio is organized, clean, and presentable at all times. This includes sweeping/mopping studio floor after teaching and general tidiness

Required:
  • Effective communication skills, oral & written
  • Strong sense of customer service & safety awareness
  • Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Have a neat & clean appearance in compliance with the company grooming standards
  • Punctual, able to report at scheduled start time
  • Work well as part of a team.


Education and Experience:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year experience instructing Yoga
  • Minimum 200 hours Yoga Alliance Certification

Preferred:
  • 500 hour certification
  • Aerial Yoga certification


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, see, and hear. The employee will be frequently squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and balancing. Must be capable of walking or standing 90% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 10lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:
Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will rarely be exposed to outside weather conditions.
Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually quiet.
Equipment Used in Job: Yoga props including mats, blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets, chairs, etc.
