Primary Function: The Community School Coordinator at Bangor High School is a strategic thinking partner, pivotal in bridging the gap between academic aspirations and career readiness. In close collaboration with the Bangor Area School District (BASD), Northampton Community College (NCC) and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV), the coordinator ensures every high school student is equipped with the tools, knowledge, and pathways to shape their future successfully by coordinating before, during and after school activities, programs, and services. Key priority areas include promoting college and career readiness, improving student pathways to success, and fostering robust community partnerships that also includes families. The Community School Coordinator will also support mental health initiatives within the high school and act as a referral partner to the district's onsite family resource center.

Responsibilities:

Promotes College and Career Connectedness:

(1) Design and coordinate college and career connectedness programming for Bangor High School students in partnership with BASD leadership and NCC;
(2) Work collaboratively with the NCC AmeriCorps VISTA, who is tasked with exploring best practice models of career and college connectedness.

Fosters Strong School-Community Partnerships:
(1) Convene and facilitate monthly Community School Core Team meetings;

(2) Convene and facilitate quarterly BASD Community Leadership;

(3) Strategically recruit and onboard new community partners to join the BASD Community Leadership Team, with a focus on addressing identified needs, expanding access to resources, and enhancing family and student support services.

(4) Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with corporate partners, donors, and local organizations, ensuring their engagement aligns with the schools' strategic goals and reflects the diverse needs of students and families;
(5) Develop and disseminate BASD Community School updates and communications tailored for various audiences-including school staff, district leadership, families, students, and community partners-to highlight impact, celebrate collaboration, and promote transparency.

Connects Students and Families with Basic Need Services:
(1) Recruit and coordinate programs and services from area partners to address student and family needs (STAR Dental Van, America's Best, Slater Family Network);
(2) Collaborate and coordinate with community partners in addressing student and family needs and planning programming and family events;
(3) Provide oversight to UWGLV funded student and family services provided to the Bangor Area School District;

(4) Use data to create effective programming.

Manages Grants and Reporting Expectations:
(1) Complete all required UWGLV community school reporting and data collection;
(2) Steward and manage community school support grants as required;
(3) Complete any other data collection and reporting requirements by BASD or NCC.

Organizational Relationships: (1) Responsible to the Dean, School of Education & Academic Foundations for the satisfactory performance of assigned responsibilities. (2) Works very closely with the leadership of the partner district. (3) Works with the administrative and support staff in the development and delivery of courses, programs, and services. (4) Relates role to missions and goals of the College and the partner district.

Performance Standards: Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specific time frame; (2) responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives; (3) effective cooperative relationships exist with the other members of the administrative teams at the college and the partner district.

Qualifications: (1) Education: (a) attainment of a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional Accreditor preferably in education, human services, social work, or a related field that focuses on the guidance and development of young people; (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) excellent communication skills both oral and written; (b) ability to relate to youth, parents, staff, educators and the community in general; (c) able to organize and work effectively with groups; (d) work effectively with diverse populations including students, faculty, administrators and community groups; (e) knowledge of school operations and community organizations; (f) excellent skills in interpersonal relationships. (g) Effective meeting facilitation and data driven decision making; (h) organization, time management and task prioritization skills. (i) Strategic thinking. (j) Strong ability to problem solve and work as part of a team. (3) Experience: (a) 1-2 years of experience in community health, social work, education, human services, or youth programming is preferred.; (b) demonstrated capacity to serve in an administrative capacity; (c) program development and partner management experience desired.
