Coding Analyst

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute - Oregon's largest private oncology practice and a member of the US Oncology network - is looking for a Coding Analyst to join the team. This individual will have at least 3 years of experience as a CPC (or equivalent). Must have a working knowledge of CMS coding and documentation rules and regulations.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $24.34 - $39.12. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform EMR chart audits for all providers in accordance with The US Oncology and CMS requirements.
  • Records all procedures and assigns appropriate procedure codes.
  • Ensure captured charges and billings accurately reflect the medical record according to ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and CMS guidelines.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and performs the professional services documentation and coding audits of outpatient records for the practice.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of coding guidelines as they relate to services rendered such as AMA guidelines, Medicare LCD's, commercial payor billing guidelines, coding manuals.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of medical information contained in each record.
  • Assists with other audits such as hospital visits, consultations, and others as assigned.
  • Abstracts relevant clinical and demographic information from the medical record to assign current ICD and CPT codes in accordance with coding and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Assists with US Oncology audit and compliance or reimbursement audits such as providing records, audit reports, and standard operating procedure manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPC (or equivalent) certification is required.
  • Minimum three years medical coding experience required.
  • Surgery coding experience required.
  • Prior oncology experience preferred.
  • Must possess a broad knowledge of managed care and HMO policies and procedures and Medicare benefits.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of current versions of ICD10, CPT and HCPCS.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
