Plant Manager
As the Plant Manager you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our Joplin, Missouri facility, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, optimizing productivity and efficiency, managing resources and maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment.

This position requires a passion for excellence, a commitment to safety, and the ability to inspire and lead a dedicated team. Success in this role will be measured by improving operational efficiency, adherence to safety standards, positive business outcomes, and overall improvement of employee satisfaction and retention.

Essential Functions & Requirements:

Safety & Compliance



  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Implements and enforces safety and environmental protocols to protect employees, the community and the environment
  • Ensures strict compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations concerning safety, environmental and operational processes
  • Develops and maintains a Safe & Compliant or Not At All culture at all levels of the organization, ensuring operational management takes equal responsibility for safety alongside safety professionals and operators
  • Identifies and mitigates operational safety risks by implementing engineering and administrative controls
  • Leads risk management efforts to address and reduce safety and environmental hazards


Operational Excellence



  • Oversees the entire operations of the facility, including waste handling, emissions controls, and burning processes, ensuring high-quality outputs with minimal environmental impact
  • Drives monthly productivity meetings with team to develop a list of projects that will improve efficiency and reduce costs to ultimately offset inflation
  • Manages maintenance schedules to prevent downtime, maintain safe working conditions, and optimize equipment lifespan
  • Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness, sustainability, and profitability, utilizing Lean methodologies and tracking KPIs
  • Leads daily operations meetings that review shift productivity to goals using the above Lean methodologies and KPIs
  • Fosters strong community relations and collaboration with internal departments (e.g. Sales, Customer Experience, Transportation, Billing) to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction


Financial Management



  • Develops and distributes financial and operational goals to improve profitability and performance
  • Collects and analyzes financial or operational data to identify obstacles and improve outcomes
  • Manages budgets, resource allocation and inventory to optimize operation efficiencies and minimize costs
  • Creates and implements strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and drive profitability


Leadership & Decision-Making



  • Cultivates a team culture aligned with the Company's values, focusing on safety, regulatory compliance and profitable growth
  • Provides leadership and guidance to operational staff, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting professional development
  • Establishes clear performance expectations and holds team members accountable, providing regular coaching and feedback
  • Leads a diverse team to solve complex problems independently, ensuring team members' growth and success with direct supervision
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or business (required)


Experience:



  • 10+ years of experience in operational leadership in environmental services, chemicals, or industrial operations (required)
  • Expertise in combustion, air pollution control, environmental permits and chemistry (preferred)
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management programs (preferred)

  • Achieving cost budgets that off-set inflation year-over-year
  • Growth in throughput while maintaining safety and environmental compliance
  • Successful execution of CAPEX projects in a timely and cost-efficient manner
  • Developing a 'leadership at all levels' approach in safety, with 100% employee participation
  • Developing a 'reliability culture' that increases operational uptime and reduces unplanned events
