Position Highlights |
University Facility Services is seeking a skilled Plumber to join our team. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in commercial and industrial settings. Key responsibilities include working with pipes, fixtures, and appliances to ensure proper water flow, drainage, and system functionality.
The Plumber will diagnose and resolve plumbing issues, perform routine maintenance, and ensure all work complies with local building codes and safety regulations. Additionally, this role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate exceptional customer service by effectively communicating with clients, offering solutions, and delivering high-quality workmanship. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Installs, repairs and maintains chilled water, steam, heat, water, gas, drainage, sewage and other plumbing systems.
- Install pipes, fixtures, and appliances according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, and other issues in plumbing systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure proper functioning and prevent future issues.
- Identify and resolve plumbing problems using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, provide estimates, and offer solutions.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local building codes and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used and time spent on each job.
- Respond to emergency plumbing situations as needed, often outside of regular working hours.
- Inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, valves and other plumbing system components to locate malfunctions and repairs or replaces when necessary.
- Studies plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations.
- Operates reamers, threading discs, sewer tapes, pipe cutters, snakes and other plumbing equipment and hand tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of PRVs , Steam, Vacuum and Air.
- Expert knowledge in plumbing and water/piping systems and schematics.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to squat, kneel, or be in awkward body positioning for extending periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Journeyman level position. Completion of a high school education or an equivalent combination of apprenticeship program, technical training and/or experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to
the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Previous experience working as a Journeyman Plumber supporting a large facility (ie. School district, hospital, etc.).
- Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program.
