Job Description

The Division of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) seeks applications for the position of Instructor or Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor. This is a non-tenure track, nine-month appointment, which will support the undergraduate and/or graduate programs in Agribusiness Management and Agricultural and Applied Economics.

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for teaching courses in the area of commodities sales and marketing and assisting to lead programmatic development in the future. Courses may be delivered via traditional classroom and/or online format. Other teaching, undergraduate student organization advising, advising of students, and/or service responsibilities may be assigned in place of the above should our needs change.

DASS is one of six academic units in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. The Division is dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice through effective teaching, innovative research, and meaningful engagement. We strive to bridge the gap between social and natural sciences, to enhance the capabilities of individuals, communities, and enterprises in the agricultural system and beyond, and to prepare students to address complex societal challenges and make a positive impact in the world. By fostering a culture of community, creativity, collaboration, and commitment to lifelong learning, we ensure that our teaching, research, and engagement efforts are informed by social context, human needs, and robust scientific methods. We aim to deliver a small college experience within a large university, providing personalized attention and cultivating strong connections among students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: MS degree in economics, agricultural economics, or related discipline.

Candidates will be evaluated on: Highest Degree earned. Industry or professional experience in agricultural sales is strongly preferred. Effectiveness of teaching. Success in working with undergraduate and graduate students in a learning and mentoring environment, as well as for advising, recruitment, and industry connections. Interpersonal skills and the ability to lead within an academic environment. Experience with e-learning and technology-related educational innovation. Willingness to adapt as change arises.
