Inside the Role

Aftermarket Solutions - Byesville, a business unit of Daimler Truck North America, specializes in remanufacturing components for both on-highway and off-highway vehicles. The Human Resources Generalist in this role is responsible for all HR-related tasks, with a primary focus on managing leaves of absence and full-scale recruiting within designated AMS locations. The role encompasses the following key areas:

Position offers a starting salary range of$67,500 - $86,500 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience

What You Drive at DTNA

Generalist duties:

  • Administers hourly and salary benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, 401K, vacation, sick leave, and employee assistance.
  • Assists in Identifying legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance for AAP/EEO and other purposes.
  • Assists new hires with completion of Workday tasks, assists in creating badges, and processes any additional new hire information according to state laws/regulations.
  • Plans and conducts new hourly employee orientation including policies, benefits, and required trainings.
  • Updates HRIS, timekeeping, and other systems/areas as needed.
  • Gathers and maintains hourly and salary personnel records.
  • Maintain hourly and salary employee medical and training files.
  • Coordinates and provides updates for hourly and salary training in, sexual harassment, and other compliance training as required.
  • Assists human resources management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues and internal investigations.
  • Attend/participate in production huddles and appropriate meetings and addresses employee concerns and questions.
  • Attend and conduct meetings including employee committees, supervisor best practice, and evaluations as needed or assigned.
  • Assists in development of plant level policies.
  • Assist employees as needed in all aspects. Escalate when appropriate.
  • Works directly with the safety team to manager injury/workers compensation claims.
  • Support and implement company programs and initiatives.

Leaves of Absence Management:

  • Oversee the entire process of employee leaves of absence from initiation to completion. This includes handling various types of leaves such as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Worker's Compensation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all leave transactions.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees throughout their leave period, addressing any inquiries or concerns they may have.
  • Coordinate with HR, management, and external parties such as insurance providers and medical professionals to facilitate the leave process.

Full-Cycle Recruiting:

  • Manage the entire shop recruitment process for designated AMS locations, from job posting to onboarding.
  • Assisting Hiring Managers and Talent Acquisition Partners with posting and management of office recruitment process.
  • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Source, screen, and interview candidates to identify the best fit for open positions.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and ensure a smooth recruitment process.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience by maintaining clear and timely communication throughout the recruitment process.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree with focus in human resources or related field from an accredited university/college OR 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree required
  • Requires working knowledge and expanded professional experience in job field
  • Works independently within guidelines and policies to solve problems of moderate complexity
  • Requires the ability to work with both autonomy, and in a team environment
  • Works as an advocate for both employee and employer
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • This job will include approximately 20% travel

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Prior experience with systems such as Workday and Kronos preferred
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources policies on a local, state, and national level
  • Extensive knowledge surrounding Worker's Compensation, FMLA, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability
