JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary: Participate in SAMSHA funded National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) grant -- Centerstone Trauma and Grief Treatment (C-TGT) for Children, Adolescents, and Families. Provide therapy to children between ages of 3-17 who have experienced trauma including neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse or other trauma-related stressors including grief of loss. Involve caregivers in therapeutic services offered to these children. Utilize evidence-based treatment. Provide services at offices in Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto counties. Opportunity to participate in National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) monthly collaborative group meetings and product development. Requires at least two years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families who have been exposed to trauma, Florida driver's license, and license eligible. Bilingual preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provide standardized assessments, clinical services/treatment, and trauma intervention services to the focus population.

Duties include:

  • Conduct individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions using evidence-based/informed interventions (e.g., TF-CBT , ACT, PE, CPT, EMDR, PCIT, TAP);
  • Provide immediate assistance to clients in crisis;
  • Triage clients to appropriate trauma treatment services;
  • Plan with individual/family for needed services;
  • Work with case manager to provide coordinate client needs with community services, work, school, etc.
  • Complete individual treatment plans with client with measurable goals and objectives;
  • Complete all required documentation, including progress notes, accurately and timely;
  • Demonstrate good clinical judgment in decision-making regarding participants;
  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds;
  • Ensure that clients identified for treatment services receive assistance, help, and treatment/therapy that meets their needs in a respectful and empowering way.

Qualifications: Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field and a minimum of two years' experience working with children, adolescents, and their families who have experienced or witnessed trauma.Bilingual preferred.Licensed or license-eligible preferred. Must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, and Florida driver's license.

Skills and Knowledge Required: Able to create a culture of respect and adapt treatment as needed in response to participant's gender, pace, and needs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, familiarity with evidence-based/informed treatment models (TF-CBT), knowledge and understanding of populations affected by trauma.

Personal Qualities: Must value cultural differences, be able to motivate others and work as a team member, and be genuinely interested in working with children, adolescents, and their families.
