Key Accountabilities
  • Primary administrator of OT network management system of servers and clients. Assist in maintaining National Grid's Operational Telecom Core Zone. This includes all firewalls, server hardware, and windows patching; including, but not limited to:
    • Manage network servers and technology tools.
    • Set-up user accounts and workstations.
    • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
    • Ensure security through access controls, back-ups, and firewalls.
    • Manage the database of associated systems including fiber, microwave, SCADA / RTU, and land mobile radio.
    • Assist IT and Network Control Centers in maintaining northbound SNMP interfaces between servers and various SNMP managers.
  • Manage repositories with technical documentation, manuals, and group policies.
  • Operate in accordance with regulatory frameworks and business / IT policies.
  • Receive and respond to internal and external customer calls as needed.
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
  • Analyze normal / abnormal operating conditions utilizing network management systems and other resources, and initiate emergency procedures when the system is in abnormal or alarm condition.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a collaborative, matrix working environment of operations management, users in the primary and backup control centers, internal and external customers on the network, including Telecom Engineering, project, or product specialists, IT / CNI, ISO, neighboring utilities, and senior staff.
  • Implement measures and controls that ensure reliability of power system operations and control, including specialized electric utility equipment.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Cisco, Microsoft, COMPTIA, Unix/Linux) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role within a Utility or Network Operations Center.
  • Ability to obtain a passing personnel risk assessment, CEII, and NERC CIP clearance.
  • Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN networking; including, but not limited to: subnets, VLANS, and routing/routed protocols
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems, protocols, and technologies.

Salary:$122,000 - $143,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
