Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and optimization of power system architectures for a variety of applications. These systems include miniature power conversion and management circuitry, distributed power architectures, radiation-hardened designs, and battery management systems, among others. As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of projects and driving innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Design, develop, and build power system architectures for various applications.
- Conduct research, design, development, and testing of hardware components such as miniature power conversion circuitry, distributed power architecture, and radiation-hardened designs.
- Optimize system designs to reduce size, weight, and power consumption.
- Create new product designs and develop technical specifications for their production.
- Analyze hardware configurations, processing solutions, and test hardware compliance with specifications.
- Foster and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally.
- Independently lead to the resolution of complex technical problems, including developing requirements and proposing solutions when customer requirements are ambiguous or incomplete.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in advanced power electronics architectures and designs.
- Participate in business development and proposal activities.
- Identify and mitigate program/system-level technical risks.
- Manage multi-disciplinary tasks and communicate project status effectively to leadership and clients.
- Develop, document, and teach best practices to junior engineers.
- Organize and plan work effectively to meet program goals and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree is preferred).
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in power systems engineering or a related discipline.
- Expertise in areas such as isolated and non-isolated dc/dc power conversion, rectification, inversion, battery management systems, motor controller design, and system-level power distribution design.
- Strong experience in designing and troubleshooting power electronics.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Ability to perform circuit simulations using tools like Spice.
- Experience with system modeling and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of applied math and physics.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capable of creating and maintaining detailed documentation
- Active Secret clearance is strongly preferred. Candidates without clearance must be able to obtain a secret clearance upon starting the role.
- Candidates must be a United States Citizen.
