JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A full-time Research Technologist is available in the laboratory of Dr. Anirban Paul in the Neural and Behavioral Sciences Department at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey PA. The lab works on understanding brain function at the level of cell types in the context of development and aging. This position involves daily maintaining mice colonies, genotyping, and mice brain processing, immunostaining, and imaging after proper training. For qualified candidates, there may also be opportunities for independent research. In addition, taking responsibility in timely handling animal health-related issues, meeting with the lab members and the investigator routinely to assist with keeping mice records in accordance with IACUC policy. The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of lab equipment, ensuring laboratory safety and biosafety standards are maintained, ordering laboratory supplies, and updating lab inventories. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) is essential. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn new techniques, demonstrate responsibility, be self-motivated and conscientious, adaptable, a strong communicator, and possess excellent organizational skills. This position will be filled at an Professional or Intermediate Professional depending on the candidate's education and experience. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions. This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, withpossibility of refunding.
