JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Sciamanna Lab at Penn State College of Medicine within the Department of Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a Research Project Manager for two randomized controlled trial of exercise interventions designed to improve walking ability. The Sciamanna Lab has its mission to develop, test and scale a physical activity intervention to treat the 25% of older adults who report serious walking difficulty. To accomplish this mission, the Sciamanna Lab designs and tests specific physical activity programs to engineer programs that are effective, have high rates of adherence, and are designed to be scalable to every region of the US. This work is done primarily with funding from grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), as well as other federal, state, and University funders. This position will work in a project management role, working with other faculty and research study staff, as well as exercise instructors and other support staff working on the research projects funded by Dr. Sciamanna's research grants.

Responsibilities include: overseeing and advising PCORI- and NIH-funded research projects; providing leadership to PCORI- and NIH-funded studies including initiating, conducting, reporting, and providing management and direction; developing program infrastructure (i.e., REDCap), standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflow processes; managing IRB requirements; negotiating with both internal and external organizations to establish and maintain relationships critical to the projects, as well as working with individuals to solve problems, resolve conflicts, and ensure efficient and effective implementation of initiatives; overseeing the hiring, onboarding, and development of research study staff members; and other functions as assigned by Dr. Sciamanna.

The ideal candidate will have the desire and capacity to work with both technology and human subjects as well as experience coordinating activities for various research projects. This includes extensive REDCap experience, as well as recruitment of research study subjects, interpersonal interaction with study subjects and/or community partners, consenting research study subjects, and effectively managing the projects via creating both financial and statistical reports for Dr. Sciamanna and project Co-Investigators. Candidates having experience with delivering health interventions, particularly in exercise, are preferred (not required). In addition to experience, the candidate will also have the following traits: problem-solver; critical thinker; team-oriented; optimistic attitude; dependable; and communicative.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • No prior relevant work experience required

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, withpossibility of refunding.

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
