The Highlights:
In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, administer the progress and success of the intercollegiate women's basketball program within the guidelines of the NCAA, the BIG EAST Conference and DePaul University. This includes all pre-season, in-season and post-season activities necessary to the development of a nationally-competitive team.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate the evaluation, recruitment, preparation and development of all student-athletes. Such evaluation and recruitment activities may include, but are not limited to identifying, contacting and recruiting prospective student-athletes by phone, social media, mail and other forms of correspondence; traveling to various locations nationally and internationally to meet and evaluate in person prospective student-athletes; and operating camps and clinics. Activities to prepare and develop student-athletes may include, but are not limited to planning practice sessions, analysis of performance, revenue share valuation analysis, providing feedback and encouraging positive performance. Lead staff and coach student-athletes during regularly scheduled practices and games.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA rules, policies and procedures pertaining to women's basketball. Attend and participate in monthly NCAA rules compliance meetings. Exhibit Head Coach Control, as defined by the NCAA.
- Monitor and encourage the scholastic progress of student-athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Academic Advising Office, so as to promote their academic success. Foster leadership development and community service efforts within the program.
- Establish and maintain quality relationships with alumni and support organizations (University Athletics Board, "D" Club, Blue Crew, etc.) of DePaul University. Serve as the department's liaison on all public relations and promotional activities for the women's basketball program and work with the Athletic Development Office to solicit gifts.
- Provide leadership to assistant coach(es) and staff under his/her supervision. Review and update responsibilities based on the needs of the program and the NCAA's governance/rule structure.
- Development of the annual traditional and non-traditional competition schedule in collaboration with the women's basketball sport administrator and Vice President/Director of Athletics, in conjunction with BIG EAST Conference and NCAA regulations.
- Responsible for adherence to the program's budget, in conjunction with the Athletic Business Office. Work with Business Office on travel arrangements, equipment purchases, and expense reports.
- Supervises 7-10 full-time staff members, 1-2 graduate assistants, and 3-8 student managers. Supervises 15 student-athletes.
- Responsible for operating the women's basketball program, and NIL/revenue share payments (as permitted by NCAA regulations) within the allocated budget.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 5 - 10 years coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division I level.
- Valid driver's license.
- Occasionally required to drive student-athletes when traveling.
- Must be able to handle the physical demands of team practice and competition, with special considerations for frequent, extended travel.
- Requires sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, current video applications, and current recruiting software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Excellent time management skills - able to confidently manage competing priorities, multiple tasks, and communication with several internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and/or intercollegiate athletics environment.
- Dedication to serving the department, the University and the student-athletes with the highest level of leadership, initiative and integrity.
- Requires working evening, weekend, and University holiday hours, including attending/traveling to all women's basketball practices and competitions.
- Travel will be required for extended periods of time for competition and recruiting.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $314,073 to $350,000.
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
