Job Responsibilities

The Talent Coordinator is responsible for the successful onboarding of all employees in the US. This individual is responsible for ensuring a smooth transition into Koppers for new hires while working with many departments and functions to ensure all pre-employment requirements are met. This individual will work closely with the Talent Acquisition Specialist on many candidate activities.

  • Schedule interviews
  • Monitor background check completion progress
  • Coordinate with local plant management on drug screens and physicals
  • Obtain clearance for new hire to start (both background check and physical/ drug screen) and communicate with both the candidate and hiring manager
  • Once offer is accepted, push new hire through Workday and ensure all approvals have occurred and IT tickets for equipment have been submitted
  • Coordinate interview travel reimbursements (send completed w9 and receipts to C&E Executive Assistant)
  • Maintain diversity and open position trackers
  • Schedule all onboarding activities, provide support where needed (remote sessions when necessary) in conducting onboarding sessions
  • Coordinate mentoring program communication materials to both the new employee and the mentors
  • Assist with intern program (help recruit, participate in intern events, etc.)
  • Attend job fairs and networking events as needed
  • Schedule Talent Acquisition related trainings as necessary (i.e. interviewing training)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, communications, or related field; 5 years of relevant experience along with High School Diploma or equivalent will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • At least 1 year of working experience in an office environment; 1 to 2 years of experience working in a human resources department preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws preferred
  • Experience with Workday a plus
  • Human resources certification preferred
  • Strong organizational and multiple tasking skills
  • Ability to practice and maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive issues
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and empathetically
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Strong service orientation and social perceptiveness
  • Demonstrates strong planning skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable communicating with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel up to 5%
