Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Industrial Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at GKN Aerospace, a growing aerospace and defense manufacturing company in Garden Grove, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and maintaining effective health and safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This exciting opportunity is directly in support of a major, multi-year expansion and industrialization project providing the candidate with the unique opportunity to build, implement and subsequently sustain critical health and safety programs and protocols.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues especially in establishing new processes, evaluating new equipment, and with transfer of work processes including utilizing a new workforce.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Cal-OSHA and other relevant regulations.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct safety training and education programs for employees and contractors.
  • Perform regular safety inspections and audits of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, and compliance activities.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Provide support in emergency response planning and drills.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role in a manufacturing industry, preferably in the aerospace or defense manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cal-OSHA and other relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills when working on projects including monitoring project progress, potential impacts on schedule and budget. Identifies and anticipates problems and offers solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to conduct effective training sessions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
  • U.S. Citizenship per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance requirements



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 or similar health and safety management systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
  • Experience of transformational projects in a manufacturing environment or complex launch projects including the introduction of new equipment, processes, and workforce into a manufacturing environment and performing associated safety risk assessments
  • Experience in conducting ergonomic assessments.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, preferably in a matrix environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.


Compensation Data

Compensation Range: $80,869.00 - $101,087.00
