Posting Summary
The Director of the School Nurse program is responsible for the oversight of the School Nurse certification program at Rutgers School of Nursing.

This position includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensures the overall quality of the program to meet the requirements for certification of students according to the State of New Jersey Department of Education.
  • Facilitates coordination in teaching and administrative responsibilities among full time and part-time faculty (PTLs), the Associate Dean for Entry to Baccalaureate Practice, and the Director.
  • Interviews and make recommendations for appointment of new PTL faculty for the program.
  • Coordinates faculty needs including PTLS for the courses by monitoring enrollments.
  • Recommends faculty teaching assignments for the program to the Associate Dean for Entry to Baccalaureate Practice.
  • Makes in-person visits to PTLs at their school clinical sites as needed.
  • Assures that appropriate learning outcomes are articulated for courses offered in the program.
  • Collaborates with faculty to identify essential skills that should be taught in relation to courses.
  • Acts as the Faculty Advisor to all the students in the program.
  • Collaborates with the Student Services staff for the recruitment, acceptance, and registration of students in the program.
  • Collaborates with Students Services regarding the plans, paperwork, and clearance for students' school-based clinical sites.
  • Approves the school clinical sites for student practicums.
  • Collaborates with Students Services regarding paperwork students' application to the State of New Jersey for School Nurse Certification.
  • Reviews all student evaluation of courses and faculty, and makes recommendations for change based upon this information.
  • Ensures that each student admitted has the opportunity for quality education with appropriate support from faculty, preceptors, and part-time lecturers.
  • Encourages students to consider application to the graduate programs at Rutgers.
  • Maintains membership in professional organization(s) relevant to the specialty of school nursing.

  • Strong teaching background
