PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
This is fiscal/clerical work in the collection of property taxes, and other fees for Accounts Receivable. Work involves computer interaction to City's mainframe tax collection system, interaction with taxpayers concerning payments, receiving cash, interpreting State Statues as they relate to the collection of related fees and performing related duties.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Division Supervisor and is evaluated on the basis of accuracy and compliance with established policy, rules and regulations.
This is a highly visible job in the public-facing offices of Receivables; individual must be able to perform duties under sometimes-stressful conditions.
Part time position in the Accounts Receivable office at 165 Church Street. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school, preferably supplemented by courses in accounting or bookkeeping; and at least one year experience as a teller, cashier, collector or customer service representative handling large sums of money; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

SALARY, BARGAINING UNIT & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a General Fund, "Non Tested" position.
This part time position will not be more than 19 hours per week, and is included in the collective bargaining agreement with Local 884. As such, employees in the is position are eligible to be paid five hours at their hourly rate for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Individuals who fill this part time position are able to pay prorated union dues each month at the same rate as other part time Local 884 employees. This position is not eligible for medical benefits or vacation pay. Any period of part time employment will not be construed in any way to mean probationary employment. Persons may not be employed in two concurrent full and/or part time positions with the City and/or the Board of Education at the same time. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: (1) a pre-employment background check,and (2) a pre-employment drug screening in accordance with the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy*.
