Overview

The Manager of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive EHS program to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves overseeing compliance with all applicable regulations, conducting risk assessments, conducting daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual safety audits and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This role will also help support corporate office safety within our Itasca, West Middlesex, and Charlotte offices. (20% - 30% Travel)

    Multi-Site Responsibility: Manages EHS programs, risk assessments, training, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, emergency response, sustainability initiatives, reporting, and collaboration across multiple sites.
  • Support the development and Implementation of EHS Program: Helps create and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conducts regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Utilize tools such as FMEA to score and rank identified risks.
  • Training and Education: Develops and delivers training to educate employees on EHS standards, practices, and procedures. (LOTO, Confined Space, etc...)
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations and report out on workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS laws and standards.
  • Emergency Response: Partners with Site leadership across North America to maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Promote and manage sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on EHS performance metrics, incidents, and compliance status.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of operations.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in safety and environmental management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or work experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Prior experience with Safety Management and Risk Management Programs preferred.
  • Certifications: one or more of the following: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazard Control Manger (CHCM).
    • 30-Hour OSHA certification
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards, excellent communication and leadership skills, ability to analyze data and develop actionable plans, proficiency in EHS management software.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring compliance and identifying potential hazards.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and develop effective solutions to EHS challenges.
  • Leadership: Capable of leading and motivating a team to achieve EHS goals.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey EHS policies and procedures.

Salary Range:

$81,000-138,000
