The Sr Materials Planning Coordinator implements and refines operational purchasing to support and meet the production objectives of Gaffney. Key areas of concentration for this position include assisting theManufacturing Production Scheduling Supervisor with procurement, logistics (inbound and outbound), and inventory management strategy and execution.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Order all raw, packaging materials and other items as required, to support the detailed production plan while managing stock cover targets and working capital.

  • Monitor supply signals using of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) purchase requisitions to ensure delivery dates, lead times, and required quantities are correct to create purchase orders. Follow-up with suppliers to ensure material fulfillment. Tracking should be completed, and actions taken if material is unavailable when needed based on detailed production plan.

  • Manage directly with the defined supplier the delivery of materials: this includes creating, sending and confirming, receiving, investigating errors and discrepancies on blocked or parked invoice lines and handling all exceptions / issues in those operations including claim management

  • Identify possible material supply concerns and roadblocks for the factory and escalate to production scheduling supervisor

  • Review and maintain the stock policy in master data on a regular basis, validating with suppliers and procurement that proper lead times, min/max inventory levels, safety stocks, and lot sizes are defined.

  • Manage new materials to properly setup the new item for introduction to the factory and availability for 1st production. Work with QA, technical groups, and production scheduling supervisor when testing of materials is required in the facility

  • Manage material discontinuation and create deviations as needed to deplete inventory on hand

  • Communicate with warehousing to ensure that all required vendor scheduled appointments are honored, especially shipments immediately required for production

  • Communicate with vendors on a daily basis; particular attention in the area of fresh commodities required.

  • Review contracts with corporate purchasing to validate pricing, open target quantities, and contract dates.

  • Attend trainings with Corporate Supply Chain to develop further skills and receive communication in a timely manner. Attend meetings with suppliers as needed.

  • Ensure that raw and packaging materials are used before SLED. Run obsolete material/items nearing expiry monthly. Take appropriate action to avoid scrapping of material before SLED. Ensure that all rejected material is in blocked state.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

HS Diploma

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.

Prior experience dealing with suppliers is an asset
