Job Purpose

Follow established procedures and guidelines to prepare ingredient samples and take part in flavour evaluations, support effective creation process, according to business goals and EH&S policies.

Pay Rate: $24.00- $26.00/hr

Core Responsibilities


Ingredient Preparation & Evaluation

  • Prepare ingredientsamples as requested for customer briefs, technology performance assessment, analytical testing, etc.
  • Act as the main point of contact to provide timely ingredient samples for other labs and functions within Givaudan
  • Maintain all required processingrecordsin company database software (Notebook, Atlas, Lot Number records, etc.)
  • Maintain organized and updated inventorystock of raw materials and samples in the lab
  • Maintain organized collection of all ingredientsin the lab for immediate response to briefs and evaluationrequests
  • Assist in supporting the development process of products when assigned
  • Assist in support evaluations requests of raw materialand ingredient when assigned
  • Participate in the evaluation of raw materials (including experimental ingredients), and ingredients infood products and provide technicalperformance feedback
  • Assist in sample preparation in the pilot plant, by following good manufacturing practices


Environmental Health & Safety

  • Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment in accordance with EH&S guidelines and good laboratory practices



Academic Background

  • Secondary/High School diploma or
  • Polytechnic or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology



Professional experience

  • Secondary/High School: minimum 1-5 years of experience in a lab, production or related area
  • Polytechnic or Bachelor's Degree: minimum 0-2 years of experience in a food applications lab, production or related area



Technical Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal form.
  • Proficiency in using common PC applications
  • Basic understanding of research documentation protocol.
  • Basic knowledge of lab equipment and handling chemicals used to perform lab functions
  • Basic knowledge of Givaudan safety, hygiene, and environmental guidelines/requirements
  • Ability to followformulations and to produce samples with speed and accuracy
  • Basic ability to prepare samples and assist with product evaluations and sensory tests
  • Ability to organize the ingredient lab efficiently and keep raw materials and ingredients up to date
