Iron Worker - O&M North Slope Construction JOB SUMMARY The Ironworker/Rigger will work directly for the project superintendent and structural steel foreman on a variety of tasks including but not limited to: steel shake out and organization, forklift operating, grinding, torching, cutting, bolting, rigging, signaling, installing fall protection measures and others. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Erect, raise, join, and place structural components of members to form completed structures or structural framework. Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural members, rig members with chokers, straps or cables for safe lifting and positioning by cranes or other devices. Proper use and care of tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction such as: air tools, torque wrenches, cutting torches, chain hoists and come-alongs. Install other structural shapes such as grating, handrail, ladders, and metal sheeting. Follow written and verbal direction from lead carpenters, subcontractors, general foreman and/or project superintendent. Perform other job specific duties as requested by supervisor. Work effectively with a crew of up to 30 other employees. Ability to comprehend project drawings and construct walls in accordance with project needs. Daily projects clean up, put away tools etc. Maintain a well-organized work environment. Must work safely and in a team environment. Must be comfortable working in high locations. Experience operating various construction equipment. Must be able to take direction when working with co-workers and supervisors. Must be able to perform a variety of different tasks associated with construction and maintenance. Must practice good work habits. Must be to work on time consistently. Must have basic math skills to make calculations. Must be able to work safely. Ability and wiliness to abide by ACHC code of conduct, policies, and procedures. Comply, understand, and support ACHC safety culture to ensure a safe work environment. Display knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the Inupiat Culture. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent. A Valid Driver's License issued within the U.S is required. A High School Diploma or GED is required. The ability to work 80.5 - 84 hours a week on a 2x2, 3x3, or 4x2 rotation is required. A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience working as an Ironworker/Rigger is required. A minimum of five (5) years' experience in erecting, raising, joining, and placing structural components or members to form completed structures or structural frameworks is required. Certified or extensive welding experience is required. Previous experience operating various construction equipment is required. Previous experience using power tools is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working as an Administrative Assistant or Administrative Specialist in the Oil and Gas industry, North Slope, and/or in Arctic Environment. WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
