Position Title: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Finance

Employment Type: Full time, Faculty, Exempt

Reports To: The Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance will report to the Chair of the Business Department

The Department of Business in the College of Business, Economics, and Computing at University of Wisconsin-Parkside is seeking to fill a tenure-track finance faculty position. Primary responsibilities for this tenure-track position are teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in finance, conducting research, and providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.

Applicants should have or be pursuing a Ph.D., D.B.A., or other similar terminal degree with a focus in Finance or related fields. They should be able to teach introductory and advanced courses in finance. Candidates should list their experience and interest in teaching topics related to societal impact, FinTech or AI, and/or any research they have done in these fields. They should also list Accounting courses if any, that they have expertise to teach. The teaching load for the position is 24 credits annually (4/4 load is the norm), with additional workload credit for graduate classes. Applicants should be interested in teaching in various formats, including face-to-face, online, hybrid, and competency-based education.

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate finance courses consistent with the faculty members area of expertise and program requirements. Assigned classes may be taught face-to-face, online, hybrid, or competency-based.
  • Develop new courses and update classes in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and competency-based formats.

    Maintain currency through scholarly work and professional engagement.
  • Attend department, college, and university meetings and assist with relevant activities and events.
  • Provide service to the university, community, and the appropriate academic discipline and profession; service may include advising student organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a high-quality research agenda with the expectation of peer-reviewed publication;
  • Participate in department/division meetings, committees, and other activities; and
  • Provide service to the university, community, and the relevant academic discipline profession; service can include advising student organizations.

Required Qualifications:



  • PhD, DBA, or similar terminal degree in Finance or related area.
  • All but Dissertation (ABD) candidates may apply. Doctorate must be completed by start date.
  • To be considered for the Associate Professor level, candidates must have the academic credentials, including active scholarship and a strong teaching record, to qualify for that position.
