Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
University Communications is a staff of communication professionals who have primary responsibility for internal and external communications through outlets that include print, broadcast and electronic media. University Communications is a unit reporting to the Office of the Chancellor. The UC Mission is "to provide external communications through the print, electronic media, Web and other means to increase public awareness, understanding and support of the University." The employees of University Communications work in these areas: communications/media, creative services, web communications and marketing. Each area has a unique set of responsibilities and duties, but the staff work as a team to carry out the University Communications' mission. Staff writers are assigned specific beats, or areas of coverage, within the University community, and as such are expected to generate stories from their beats. In addition, stories and other projects are assigned on interest, availability, and workload.
Position Summary
Position strategically schedules and captures artistic, creative and skilled video work to capture and produce multimedia reflecting the full range of activities at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro as well as some photography from time to time. Position oversees the concepting and creation of critical university video pieces used to communicate with a variety of external and internal audiences, including prospective students, alumni, donors, community members and legislators, faculty and staff. The position manages the videography relationship with our partners on campus and is one of the ambassadors of the UC Office.

Position manages the Drone usage and ensures policies are followed - both federal and university.
Minimum Qualifications

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY AND ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT IN A BROADCAST TELEVISION, RADIO AND EMERGING MEDIA ENVIRONMENT; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Drone Certified ( FAA compliant)
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years experience.
  • Must be Drone Certified (FAA compliant).
  • After Effects Skills is a plus.

Alternate Option
