SEBS) Educational Opportunity (
EOF) is seeking for Teaching Fellow (TF) coordinator for our 2025 Solid
GEMS Summer Program. Teaching Fellow oversees and enhances the enhances the educational program within the following disciplines: general chemistry, general biology, and organic chemistry. The teaching fellow coordinator conducts all interviews for the teaching fellows for the 2025 Solid
GEMS Summer programs and hire individuals to fill the following positions: (2) Biology Teaching Fellows, (3) General Chemistry Teaching Fellows, (2) Organic Chemistry Teaching Fellows. The coordinator ensures that the curriculum is delivered effectively, resources are utilized efficiently, and teaching standards are maintained at the highest level and works with the teaching fellows for each discipline to foster a productive and innovative learning environment.
The responsibilities of the teaching fellow include:
1. Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Collaborate with the teaching fellows to design the curriculum for each of the discipline courses. This includes creating exam preparation materials for all courses and creating videos and course learning tools for each course.
- Design and maintain the course (6) Canvas pages for General Chemistry 1 & 2, General Biology 1 & 2 and Organic Chemistry 1 & 2 that assists the teaching fellows with material for instruction.
- Ensure that the curriculum meets the standards of each course as given by the department and aligns with the department goals and objectives.
- Incorporate new teaching methods, technologies, and materials to enhance learning experiences.
2. Teaching Fellow Support and Development
- Provide guidance and support to teaching fellows and helping them to develop effective teaching strategies and lesson plans.
- Conduct (2) weekly meetings to discuss student feedback and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching practices and student retention of the material.
- Conduct teaching fellow observations. Each teaching fellow will have two visits per summer session.
3. Student Engagement and Support
- Collaborate with teaching fellows to develop initiatives to enhance student engagement and success in discipline courses.
- Provide academic support and mentoring to students, addressing their individual needs and challenges.
4. Assessment and Evaluation
- Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate student learning and program effectiveness.
- Analyze assessment data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendation for changes.
5. Communication and Collaboration
- Foster a collaborative environment among teaching fellows, promoting teamwork and the sharing of best practices.
- Act as a liaison between the science departments and SEBS EOF Solid GEMS program and other programs (i.e., ODASIS) within the institution.
- Communicate regularly with the EOF counselors and Solid GEMS director, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.

Minimum Education and Experience |
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. |
