Medical Education Outcomes Analyst

Description of Roles and Responsibilities

  • The mission of Merck Global Professional Relations and Independent Medical Education (gPRIME) is to provide independent medical education (IME) to address identified educational gaps and needs. As such, each of our supported programs follow the standard process of identifying the needs, addressing them with appropriate content, and then providing client with outcomes of the programs.

  • The outcomes should demonstrate how the educational gaps and learning objectives were addressed and the measurement, evaluation, and assessment of impact.

  • The IME Outcomes Analyst is integral to assessing, evaluating, and contributing to the analytic strategy of supporting educational programming initiatives to address independently identified educational gaps and needs for a Global Pharmaceutical Company, Merck & Co.

  • The Analyst cross-collaborates with multiple internal functions to identify trends, insights and outcome evaluations to optimize multidisciplinary education and strategy. This role is responsible for data analytics related to performance measures, ongoing measurement, data collection, reporting, data visualization, information dissemination, and research.

  • The Analyst will contribute to gPRIME's strategic Center of Excellence design and provide informed recommendations and insights based on data analysis.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • S/he will collect outcomes data from Merck supported programs to ensure that all programming, including CE certified activities, meets outcomes criteria standards as set by gPRIME.

  • Evaluates impact as related to selected educational needs.

  • Perform analysis to identify trends, patterns, and themes within data to further shape and inform current and future IME initiatives and strategy, including:

  • Learning outcomes - Analyze e-learning data, pre-/post-assessment performance, and follow-up data/outcomes; assist with data capture and input into Insights 2.0; work cross-departmentally to ensure outcomes are appropriate and align with supported proposals.

  • Educational needs assessment data - Analyze metrics and responses from various educational needs as submitted by grant seekers.

  • Educational strategy discussion - Analyze outcomes for insights regarding the closing of educational gaps/needs, including specifics arounds learners. Help identify continuing educational needs regarding topics of interest based on analysis of assessments/outcomes; provide commentary on submitted proposals and how they align with the outcomes and learning objectives.

  • Modality effectiveness - analyze the data to identify the effectiveness of the various supported modalities (live versus online) utilized and reported in outcomes reports.

  • Suggest research analysis of data aimed for publication and/or presentation purposes.

  • Design and implement surveys and assessments to gather insights on barriers and challenges to address HCP needs.

Minimum FTE Years of Experience

Required:

  • 2-3 years of professional experience in data analytics

  • Proven analytical skills including knowledge of methodological, statistical and survey design

  • Demonstrated ability to produce complex analysis through Excel or other databases/systems

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) is required

  • Experienced with analytical software beyond Excel, e.g., Tableau, Qlik Sense

  • Multi-factorial analysis techniques

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)

  • Advanced level of skill with Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (medical education companies)

  • Ability to create visualization dashboards

Preferred:

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in pharma analytical roles

  • 5 - 7 years of experience with data sets from accredited medical education activities

  • Statistical or research experience in healthcare or associated field

  • Experience in oncology, healthcare and/or medical technology

  • Knowledge of grant management systems/databases, i.e., Versaic, Polaris, Steep Rock

  • Proficiency with survey systems (ex., SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics)

  • - Knowledge of Learning Management System (LMS) platforms is highly desirable

Educational Requirement

Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred
