JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Sociology and Criminology at The Pennsylvania State University is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar starting in Fall 2025, with flexibility.

Responsibilities include:

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be expected to collaborate with a faculty mentor and supervisor and graduate students. Independent research is also required. The fellow will also have opportunities to collaborate with individuals in related departments and academic units.

A Ph.D. in Sociology or related field is required by the appointment date.

Substantive interests in the areas of education and mental/physical health; race/ethnicity and immigration and health; and weight, diet, and cardiometabolic outcomes are preferred. The ideal candidate will also have experience and clearances to work with multiple federal restricted data sources from the Department of Education, National Centers for Health Statistics, and U.S. Census Bureau.

This is a non-tenure-track, term position with an excellent possibility of renewal.
