About the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion: Located in Hillcrest, the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion is a state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot medical facility designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of our region. Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. With a strong emphasis on cancer care, we are committed to delivering world-class medical services in a patient-centered environment.

DESCRIPTION

The Senior Dosimetrist is responsible for designing treatment plans using computer software and/or manual calculations to deliver the prescribed radiation dose and field placement technique, as specified by the physician, to a defined tumor volume. In developing treatment plans, the dosimetrist carefully considers dose-limiting structures to ensure optimal treatment delivery. The Dosimetrist also plans and documents doses in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription.

This role also provides physics and technical support to relevant staff and faculty, in radiation protection, qualitative machine calibrations, and quality assurance of radiation oncology equipment. Additionally, the Senior Dosimetrist assists in the implementation of specific dosimetry methods, including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurement, under the direction of the Chief Dosimetrist. Assisting in intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures is also a key aspect of this role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist issued by MDCB (CMD).

  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience required.

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Dosimetry JRCERT accredited program.

  • Must be proficient in 3D,IMRT and brachytherapy treatment planning.

  • Must be familiar with the operation of linear accelerators, Simulator, and CT units.

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of treatment planning systems and departmental R/V systems.

  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and must possess superior aptitude for producing error-free calculations, so as to not detrimentally affect patient outcomes.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem solving in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current practices in radiation therapy, planning, and administration.

  • Able to accurately document patient care activities in accordance with institutional and cancer center guidelines.

  • Excellent organizational skills to determine workload priorities to enable timely completion of tasks.

  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and work with medical staff, paramedical staff, patients and patient families.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with Eclipse, clear check, MIM, ARIA and AlignR T.

  • Experience working in a training, academic environment.

  • Experience with clinical trials.

  • Experience with SBRT and SRS treatment planning.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • May need to support several locations on site or via remote access i.e. La Jolla, Encinitas.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $189,215 - $189,215 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $90.62 - $90.62

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
