We're looking for a full-time, staff Electrical Engineer IV

to join ourDay & Zimmermannteam located in eitherGreenville SC, Charlotte NC, or Remote.

As the Electrical Engineer IV, here's the work you'll do:

Under administrative directions, an Electrical Engineer IV is expected to function in a discipline leadership role leading and spearheading the design and development of large scale renewable energy projects. General role description includes electrical design and analysis of an assigned scope of work in a project including specific complex deliverables such as solar energy generation systems, power generation systems, substation & power distribution systems and lighting & grounding/lightning systems. Work includes, among other things, estimating, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, system sizing calculations, specification development and electrical one-line diagrams. Is able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers. Mentors junior Electrical Engineers and depending on size and complexity of scope of work may be assigned as the Electrical Engineering Lead for a project. Maintains and promotes a focus on end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction. Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines. Ensures effective management of change. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical guidance for the pertinent portions of the assigned projects including required design deliverables, specifications, calculations and project overview for other Engineers and Designers.
  • Develops and monitors project scopes, schedules, scope of service, and engineering budgeting for applicable discipline and team of Engineers and Designers. Identifies changes in scope / schedule and their impact, as they occur.
  • Provides coordination of design efforts with other disciplines and client personnel.
  • Monitors and ensures design work and documents are correct, consistent with applicable codes, logically presented and constructible.
  • When responsible for work, stamps required project documents as a PE.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Well versed in design practices for medium and low voltage electrical distribution including, but not limited to, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, power distribution, heat tracing, protective relaying, fire detection, and electrical area classification. Experience applying industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NEMA, NFPA, NETA Std.).
  • Knowledgable in design of solar farms and proficient in the use of solar/grounding design tools/software such as PVsyst, XGSLab. Ability to work in Revit, AutoCad, and Bluebeam and other electrical system modeling software such as SKM and/or ETAP to perform power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow, etc.) including DC analysis.
  • Strong ability to spearhead the electrical design for large-scale projects ensuring compliance with industry standards, budget constraints, and timelines while leading multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.Experience in effective project execution practices and application of project procedures.
  • Experience in effective project execution and project procedures. Able to generate Scope of Service documents, scheduling, design budgeting plan, coordinating with procurement, construction, and othe engineering discipline teams to ensure project success.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels, resolve engineering challenges proactively, and drive innovation in design, procurement strategies, and construction methodologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability Experience in the development of the design basis for Capital Project Cost Estimates.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Required
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • PE Preferred
  • Ability to successfully pass background screening process.


In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $114,880 - $172,320. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
