Summary Description of Position

The Vulcan Asset Management (VAM) Asset Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing the lifecycle of our organization's fixed and/or mobile assets. Individual is responsible for ensuring efficient utilization, maintenance, and tracking of assets to maximize their value and minimize operational costs, creating consistency across the organization, supporting the divisions' work in best utilizing our assets. Role will administer VAM asset updates, transfers, and changes in accordance to and in compliance with VAM governance and policy.

Education, Experience, Skills Required

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration or related field is preferred.


Experience:



  • Proven experience in asset management or related field, preferably in the construction materials or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems and their integrations with the VAM solution.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong knowledge of VAM software systems and asset tracking methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Understand asset management principles and practices.
  • Understand key aspects of a maintenance workflow process
  • Knowledge and experience with heavy mobile, crushing, feeding, screening, washing, sizing and related aggregate processing equipment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Possess sound knowledge of the accounting and financial reporting process and good math skills.


Essential Functions



  1. Act as a primary sponsor for the VAM rollout across the enterprise.
  2. Ensure quality inspection plans are developed and maintained within the platform.
  3. Supports the divisions-based VAM Coordinators. Establish and lead a regular cadence of communications.
  4. Provide training and support on asset management procedures, software systems, and capturing and exporting best practices.
  5. Lead VAM within our Fixed and/or Mobile Maintenance teams. Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive maintenance activities and ensure assets are in optimal operational condition.
  6. Ensure the maintenance of accurate records of assets, including acquisition, deployment, utilization, and retirement. This includes day-to-day system and data governance and the creation and usage of clean data.
  7. Monitor the lifecycle of assets and recommend strategies for asset renewal, replacement, or disposal based on operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  8. Ensure compliance with asset management policies, processes, and best practices to meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  9. Optimize VAM policies and procedures.
  10. Attend VAM Group meetings, in person or virtual, to continue developing and utilizing the VAM system across the company.
  11. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Position requires knowledge and awareness of site hazards. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, steel-toed boots and safety glasses.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential.
  • Must have a valid driver's license
