The Vermont Department of Taxes seeks an organized customer friendly, individual to work in the office at our front window area assisting taxpayers within person questions, reviewing returns, taking phone calls and assisting taxpayers through email. This is a full-time position that will be full time in the office as part of our reception area staff providing in person customer service and responsible for assisting with return error corrections and processing returns and answering taxpayer questions. This position may also be asked to help with special projects and to provide assistance with maintaining efficient workflow processes. Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Workload pressure may vary over time. Incumbents must be able to concentrate on details and perform accurate work in the face of frequent interruptions. Human relations skills may be needed to deal with the general public. Stressful situations and strong differences of opinion with taxpayers or their representatives may occur. Some travel for work may be required. Pressure from work deadlines is predictable. Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) AND two (2) years or more of professional level experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing or business administration. OR Bachelor's degree or higher AND one (1) year or more of professional level experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing or business administration. OR Associate's degree with courses in accounting, finance, business administration, taxation AND three (3) years or more of professional level experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing or business administration. OR Two (2) year or more of experience as a Tax Examiner III. Total Compensation
