Job Responsibilities:
- Scheduling procedures: Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures based on physician availability, patient needs, and facility capacity.
- Patient communication: Provide detailed pre-operative instructions to patients, address concerns, and answer questions about the surgical process.
- Insurance verification: Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for surgical procedures. \
- Medical record management: Collect and maintain accurate patient medical records, including pre-operative testing results and relevant documentation.
- Equipment and supply management: Ensure availability of required surgical equipment and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Liaison with medical team: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, management and other healthcare professionals to coordinate surgical schedules and patient care. -Post-operative follow-up: Coordinate post-operative appointments and provide patients with necessary instructions for recovery.
Required skills for a surgical coordinator:
Strong organzational skills: Ability to manage complex schedules and prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills: Clear and concise communication with patients, families, and medical staff is crucial.
Attention to detail: Accurate data entry and meticulous record keeping are essential.
Medical knowledge: Understanding of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and patient care protocols.
Ability to work under pressure: Manage a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
