About the Role:

The Manager of Medical Affairs Strategy and Operations plays a vital role within the Medical Affairs department by overseeing a range of cross-functional responsibilities. These include coordinating activities before, during, and after medical congresses, overseeing Medical Affairs metrics, driving project management initiatives, and contributing to strategic planning efforts within Medical Affairs in a collaborative, matrix-oriented setting. The ideal candidate will live in the San Diego area or be willing to relocate.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Spearheads project management oversight of critical initiatives identified by the Leadership Team, collaborating closely with key functional leaders in Field Medical, Medical Communications, and HEOR. Demonstrates exceptional organization, change management support, strategic foresight, and the ability to align cross-functional leaders and teams to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Manages project milestones for cross-functional teams, ensuring adherence to schedules and targets. Identifies bottlenecks or issues, providing strategic recommendations to facilitate smooth progression of core work.

  • Supports and advises Leadership Team members in advancing key initiatives and executing annual business and budget planning processes. Facilitates strategic planning and tactical implementation by ensuring Leadership Team members are equipped with necessary information for well-informed decision-making. Effectively communicates activities throughout the organization in a bidirectional manner.

  • Prepares executive-level briefings and presentations, fostering capabilities for Advisory Board operations and leading the integration of meetings and congress planning activities.

  • Collaborates with various functions within Medical Affairs to establish efficient cross-functional integration with other internal stakeholders.

  • Implements metrics and processes to enhance performance, improve efficiency, and address the evolving needs of the organization's people and culture.

  • Oversees the progress and enhancement of analytics capabilities that are relevant to functional business requirements. Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and facilitates reporting of essential metrics utilizing data science solutions, data visualization tools, and dashboards.

  • Facilitates benchmarking activities to drive the establishment of fit-for-purpose capabilities.

  • Performs any other duties assigned.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree (insert field of study) and 6+ years of relevant experience (insert type of experience here) OR

  • Master's degree in similar field as noted above and 4+ years of related experience as noted above OR

  • PhD in similar field as noted above and 1+ years of related experience as noted above and Some managerial / functional management or lead experience is preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of Medical Affairs and HEOR functions - field and HQ activities

  • Good knowledge of project-based dashboards to communicate to stakeholders

  • Experience using platforms and tools - Veeva, SharePoint, Power BI, Coupa, KOL engagement applications (e.g. Within3), SmartSheet, presentation making tools (present.ai)

  • Strong analytical skills - to support field insight review, organizing and identifying actionable feedback

  • Ability to manage and track high-volume transaction processing - contracts, meeting registrations, exhibiting, etc

  • Familiar with KOL engagement management, compliance topics and processing

  • Project management skills to set up timelines, track project milestones and alert leadership on issues

  • Requires broad understanding of the processes, procedures and systems used to accomplish the team's work and familiarity with the underlying concepts in other disciplines within the function

  • Applies in-depth understanding of how own discipline integrates within the function and understands contribution to Neurocrine's achievement of business objectives

  • Requires understanding of how the team / work area relates to other related areas and uses that knowledge to improve efficiency and produce high-quality work on problems with cross-functional impact

  • Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems/problems relating to own discipline

  • Frequently works cross-functionally as the representative for their area

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $128,200.00-$185,900.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
