We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) to support the genetic counselors on the Genomic Answers for Kids research study at the Children's Research Institute. The GCA is responsible for consenting of patients, obtaining family histories, and maintaining a research database among other tasks.

If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

- Communicate with patients and families via telephone and in-person to obtain consent and gather family histories .
• - Enter family histories, genetic testing results, and phenotypic features into an online pedigree database for use in case analysis.
• - Assist research genetic counselor(s) with coordination of tissue specimen collection from surgical procedures.
• - Maintain the research patient database
• - Work within the electronic medical record and associated laboratory software to assess status of testing orders and DNA samples
• - Obtain medical records and perform chart reviews

• Bachelor's Degree in biology, molecular biology, or genetics preferred and 1-2 years experience scientific writing preferred, genetics or molecular biology lab preferred, proficient in Microsoft Suite

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $28.25/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
