Requisition Id14731 Overview The Environmental SciencesDivisionofOakRidgeNationalLaboratory(ORNL)seeks a highly motivatedindividual for a postdoctoral research associate position in the Environmental Risk and Energy Analysis Group. The candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary group of experts in economics, engineering, computer sciences, and physical sciences on the economics and policy aspects of sustainable energy.The candidateshouldbeanindependentthinker andabletoparticipate creativelyin defining and refiningresearchdirections. MajorDuties/Responsibilities The successfulcandidatewillinteractwith ateamofscientists and engineersatORNL on projects evaluating sustainable energy metrics, such as costs, benefits, equity, land use change, and carbon reduction potentials, to identify and accelerate technological and policy options. Activities will involve: 1) data collection, processing, and quality assurance; 2) development and simulation of energy system models, data science methods, and econometric models; and 3) contributions to reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed journal articles.Thesuccessful candidatewillhavethe opportunityto collaborate with ORNLscientists involved in theseefforts, to gain expertise in the economic analysis of energy-environmental issues relevant to the mission of the U.S. Department of Energy, and to publish peer-reviewed journal articles on these topics. Applicants cannot have received their Ph.D. more than five years before the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. The appointment length will be up to 24 months. Extensions are subject to performance and availability of funding.
